Marti Roach, Senior Partner

Marti Roach brings clear thinking, curiosity and a sense of humor to help surface creative possibilities in her work with diverse community organizations, schools and government groups. She blends non-profit management and fund development expertise with strong skills in facilitation and meeting design.

Her keen ability to envision new options and her facilitative leadership savvy has helped hundreds of groups succeed in program planning, fund raising, and organization development. In her work as Development Director for Bay Area Community Resources, she successfully raised private sector support to sustain and grow programs and provided leadership in strategy development.

She also led participatory projects that resulted in organization and program improvements such as a major technology initiative and creation of organization-wide best practices.

Clients appreciate Marti's diligence, good questions and her flexible and collaborative approach to designing and facilitating meetings and initiatives. Marti has also written thousands of funded grants and other marketing communications. Her work has enabled youth development, health and other essential community service organizations to raise $30 million dollars to implement program and organization plans.

Marti is a trainer in the Institute of Cultural Affair's ToP® Group Facilitation Methods. She has an MSW from the University of Michigan that honed her community organizing skills. She earned her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) Credential in 1985.

Jane Stallman, Senior Partner

Jane Stallman brings energy, passion and a commitment to go the extra mile in helping organizations develop and implement new directions, tapping the potential of all participants. Her focus over the past 25 years is on designing and facilitating complex projects and meetings which support strategic objectives and enable effective organization and community change.

Jane helps teams and organizations clarify direction and develop implement strategic action plans. As a manager of leadership and organizational development at Lockheed SkunkWorks®, Jane's work was tested in the fire of a challenging reality. During a period of significant organizational change and downsizing, all of the core programs that she developed and supported were retained by senior management because of their effectiveness in producing results.

Jane's clients include government, school districts, community organizations, consulting organizations and businesses. Her clients appreciate her depth and breadth of experience, and she is often called on to design and facilitate multi-stakeholder meetings and to help plan complex projects that require a strong participatory focus.

Jane has taught business and human resource management classes at De Anza Community College, and the University of Phoenix. She is a ToP® mentor trainer of the Institute of Cultural Affair's Group Facilitation Methods and Participatory Strategic Planning courses. She has an M.B.A. from The Drucker Center, Claremont Graduate School, and a second Masters in Urban Studies with a focus in Program Planning from Occidental College. She was a CORO Foundation Fellow in Los Angeles.

Catherine Tornbom, Senior Partner

Catherine Tornbom has 30 years of experience in solving problems that get in the way of productivity. With skill and compassion, she has successfully resolved issues involving management team conflict, poor communication, productivity roadblocks, and stress in her work with Fortune 500 companies, start-ups and non-profit organizations.

Her work is enhanced by integrating wisdom, knowledge and practice from diverse fields. As a Vice-President of Professional Development, she created and managed an innovative international educational program that was implemented in the US, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, and Hong Kong. As an entrepreneur, Catherine created a company that successfully managed over 20 non-profit trade and professional corporations. As a consultant, she has initiated collaborations between highly competitive high tech companies such as Sun and Microsoft, as well as community collaborations that address issues such as youth violence prevention.

Catherine is a mentor trainer the Institute of Cultural Affair's ToP® Group Facilitation Methods and Participatory Strategic Planning courses, and is a trainer for ToP® Secrets of Implementation. She will complete her doctorate in Organizational Psychology from the Professional School of Psychology in Sacramento in September 2005.

Catherine is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the American Society of Association Executives, holds certification as an Executive Coach from the Professional School of Psychology, and is certified through the State of California as a Community Mediator. For 30 years she has practiced and taught Aikido, a martial art that emphasizes harmony in the resolution of conflict. She is currently a 3rd degree Black belt.

Marieann Shovlin, Partner

Marieann Shovlin knows the connection between participation and improving business processes, and her ability to galvanize groups around creating and committing to new process designs has led to measurably improved performance, reduction in cycle times and cost reductions through process streamlining for many companies.

Marieann is the founder of Peak Process, a company dedicated to optimizing organizational performance through collaborative processes, quality systems, and achieving continuous improvement goals. Her 25 years working in high technology as a senior manager and consultant has helped many organizations find solutions based in Systems and TQM theoretical foundations.

Her consulting helps businesses by designing participative, efficient processes that address process analysis and mapping as well as quality system implementation, including ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485:2003.

Marieann also supports organization change through the design and delivery of varied training programs in quality management, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement for industry and non-profits. Recent projects with Equinix, Parents Helping Parents, Resumix and Covalent Technologies resulted in measurable performance improvements.

Marieann trains in the Institute of Cultural Affair's ToP® Group Facilitation Methods. She is past Chair of the International Association of Facilitators (IAF), and a Senior Member and Executive Board member of ASQ (American Society for Quality, Silicon Valley Section).
